The Origin And Development of D-type Bridge

The origins of the D-type bridge can be traced back to Germany, where it was originally designed to overcome some of the technical limitations of the Bailey Bridge. As a common fabricated steel bridge structure, Bailey bridge is widely used because of its simple structure, strong adaptability and good interchangeability. However, despite these advantages, Bailey Bridges are typically no longer than 60 meters in length in a single span, which is not flexible enough in some applications where larger spans are required.

In order to make up for this shortage, the Evercross bridge introduced and improved the D-type bridge design. The D-type bridge uses a larger section of steel, which makes the structure stronger while maintaining the portability and adaptability of the Bailey Bridge, enabling an increase in the length of a single span and reducing the cost of piers. After the analysis and introduction of the D-type bridge by the engineers of the Evercross bridge,it has not only been technologically improved, but also achieved mass production. The successful application of this type of bridge shows China's technological innovation and production capacity in the field of bridge manufacturing.

This kind of long span bridge is also called GWD type bridge. We not only achieved mass production, but also successfully applied for the first set of D-type Bridges. Here are some examples of what we did.

The main bridge is mainly composed of 2# bridge-108m prefabricated highway steel bridge and 3# bridge-108m prefabricated highway steel bridge.

2# Bridge length: 109.728m total length, maximum single span 45.72m+64.008m, lane width: 4.2m Footbridge: 2x1.0m layout on both sides of the roadway, load: 60 tons, is built by the combination of GWD C3DD and C3DS.

3# Bridge Length: 109.728m Total length, maximum single span :24.384m+60.96m+24.384m Lane width: 4.2m

Footbridge: 2x1.0m is arranged on both sides of the roadway, load: 60 tons, is built with the combination of GWD C3DD and Bailey DSR.
